2022 = FIVE YEARS for AMR
Dear Friends of AMR!
Whether you are new to A Mother’s Rest, or a consistent annual supporter, we are glad to have you as part of our AMR family!
Please read our caregiver reviews! That is a great way to see the very personal, life-altering IMPACT of your giving. https://greatnonprofits.org/org/a-mothers-rest-charitable-respite-foundation
In February 2022, A Mother’s Rest marks our FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY. In that short time, with incredibly generous private support and a skeleton crew, A Mother’s Rest:
· Partnered with more than (40) B&B “Porch Partner” Inns in (22) states nationwide · Purchased and opened TWO of our own year-round Signature Respite Inns (Maryland & Georgia) · Hosted (466) caregiver respite retreats nationally · Scheduled (130+) retreats already for 2022 · Scheduled every weekendfor Maryland and Georgia through2023 · Served nearly (4000) parents & caregivers with recuperative rest and therapeutic fellowship · Is expanding our support of Adoptive/Foster Families, as well as Military Families (Veterans & Caregivers both) · Will be launching a new “Me Time”program for on-demand, as needed caregiver respite · Continued planning/fundraising for a third year-round respite inn(likely NC or FL) · Hired (2) part-time Innkeepers · Hired an Accountant · Hired a Marketing, Graphic Design, and Administrative Coordinator · Hired a Program Manager · Passed our first full audit (on the first try!) · Finalized our Board of Directors & Officers · Remained fiscally compliant in Virginia, Maryland, and Georgia, as well as our 501c3 status
Despite COVID plaguing us for two full years now, A Mother’s Rest has remained OPEN as an essential mental health care provider. Only in early 2020 did we have to cancel and reschedule several respite retreats with various partners, but OUR inns remained OPEN. During these unprecedented times, our availability for respite and fellowship is **needed more than ever. **
Your continued support, whether one time, monthly, specifically for MD or GA, purchasing an engraved brick for our Welcome Walk in Georgia, or through additional Capital Campaign support for various projects and our Third Inn…I am personally grateful for every cent that is given. And in a time of high inflation, where families are impacted even more, keeping our retreats affordable is even more important. We are committed to NOT raising donation requests from guests.
*** Each of our inns have basic operating, insurance, and maintenance costs annually, in addition to improvements and urgent repairs. In both locations, our AVERAGE expenses are approximately $55,000 a year. Guest donations alonedo not cover this,so we rely on additional giving, room sponsorships, and grants to meet these needs.
*** Capital needs, such as window replacements, roof repair, exterior painting, landscaping improvements, new gutters, chimney repair, renovations, new bathrooms installed, etc are funded separately.
*** Our General Fund, which supports our tax compliance, financial integrity and audits, and program management staffing, needs support as well.
Donations are needed continually throughout each year. Those can be made on our website at www.amothersrest.org or via check to A Mother’s Rest 32 West Main Street New Market,MD 21774
Thank you to all of our volunteers and donors! Thank you to each of our participating Porch Partners! And thank you to each of our businesses, churches, social organizations, grant foundations, and private philanthropic benefactors for believing in the GIFT OF REST. Here’s to five years, and fifty years more!
Sincerely,
Andrea Faris Roberts Founder & Executive Director
